Manufacturing costs of the wooden components in three diferent rough mills

Abstract:

The production of wooden components (elements) has existed in Croatia already for a few decades. For the most part the components are made from sawn hard timber (beech & oak), so that one may say that we are, concerning this technology, amongst the leading ones in the world. The purpose of this research is to check the production costs of three different rough mill technologies (two traditional and one rough mill controlled by a computer). The low cost of production per one cubic meter of elements in this research is achieved in the rough mill controlled by a computer, but the investment in this rough mill is higher than in the classic rough mill. This research-work should help when making decisions of which technology for the manufacture of the components (elements) to select, whereas the research basis is the manufacturing cost price per production unit.
